2010/2011 Selection Sheet Pool Rules
The Goal
To accumulate the most points through the four rounds of the playoffs by selecting the strong pool team possible from the sheet provided. Of course, it isn't quite that simple.
The Sheet
The sheet will consist of 32 boxes where you will select one player from each box. There will be eighteen (18) forward boxes, ten (10) defensemen boxes and four (4) goaltender boxes.
The sheet will be made available online and in paper form. Please be sure to write in your name, e-mail address and phone number on the sheet (there will be spots on the online version for you), to make sure I can contact you if and when you win money.
Your e-mail address will also be helpful if you incorrectly fill out the sheet.
Trades **very important**
The difference between the Regular Season Sheet Pool and the Playoffs Sheet Pool is that you can take as many players from any one (1) team in the league throughout the boxes and you will receive seven (7) trades throughout the season within the boxes. If you wish to trade a player during the season, you can send an e-mail directly to clayton@opiatedsherpa.com and request that the player you wish to drop to be removed from your active roster and he will be replaced by a player in the same box, as per the Selection Sheet. I will also accept trades via Instant Messenger programs, phone calls or any other methods of communication. Please contact me via e-mail to confirm which mode you would prefer to use.
All trade transactions will be made active on the following Monday of the e-mail. Cut-off for accepting trades will be the Monday of the week starting before puck drop that night.
The Fee
Buying into this pool will only cost a person $25. With the number of participants this pool has had in the past, it still makes for a very good prize pot. The fee must be paid before your team is posted on the website and you are then qualified to participate in the playoff pool.
The Dates (Start and Deadline)
The Selection Sheet Pool goes live on Monday, September 20, 2009. The season starts in on October 7th, 2010, but the deadline for your submissions will be 5pm MT on Sunday, October 10th, 2010.. Any time between September 20th and October 10th, money and sheets will be accepted.
The Scoring
All Players | Goalies |
Goal 1 point | Win 2 points |
Assist 1 point | Shutout 2 points |
|
Assist - 1 point |
Goalies will have their goals and assists count towards their point totals and in the highly unlikely event that a player has to dress as a goalie and wins, those points will count towards his point totals.
The tie-breaking system will be done as follows:
1. Points earned
2. Goals For
3. Wins
All scoring will be based on a week-by-week basis, with a newsletter update every Monday. Weeks will run from Monday to Sunday, with a full statistic audit from the statistics page from NHL.com. Points can be gained or lost in that audit during the week, due to scoring changes in the games during the week.
